Why repair a windshield?
- It’s free with most full coverage insurance and we can do the paper work in shop while we do the repair.
- Repairs cost far less than a new replacement.
- Texas code requires the driver’s windshield to be free of vision obstructions. And those cracks can be annoying to the eye!
- It’s green. Windshields cannot be recycled and so they go to the landfills (unfortunately).
- With repairs- the factory glass, trim and seal of the windshield will be left as original.
- It’s quicker and easier than a replacement -taking only 30 minutes in most cases.
- The objective of Windshield repairs is to stop the crack and fill the pit so that the integrity of the windshield is not compromised. Clarity will be regained up to 90%, however; the only way to make damage to your windshield totally disappear is to replace it with new glass.
What does one need to do if a rock chip or crack is found?
- Do bring it to WINDSHIELD MEDIC as soon as possible- The newer the crack the better the repair.
- Don’t try to repair it yourself, because once it’s filled in there is no “re-do”!
- Do not put RainX or other treatments or cleaners on the chipped windshield, this will contaminate the repair.
- Do let the windshield dry thoroughly 24 hrs before repairing, as trapped moisture in the windshield will cause the crack to worsen.
